Studio Briefing reports that the British broadcasters BBC, ITV and Channel Four are to set up a VOD (video on demand) Internet service with more than 10,000 hours of programming.

Called Kangaroo, the service will provide some programming via download and some via streaming. Certain programmes will be free while others can be purchased or rented.

Kangaroo is set to launch in 2008 but none of the companies, who jointly announced the service, have committed to an actual date yet.
