Oscar-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs, Remains of the Day) is to play the late iconic British film director, Sir Alfred Hitchcock in a new biopic. Dubbed “The Master of Suspense’ Hitchcock was considered a genius of the thriller genre with classic films such as Rear Window, North by Northwest, Psycho and The Birds.
Hitchcock was knighted for his contribution to the film industry in 1979 and his career spanned 50 years. Although he received five Best Director Oscar nominations, he never won. However, his 1940 film Rebecca won the Oscar for Best Picture.
The biopic is to focus on the making of Psycho and on Hitchcock’s self-doubting nature. (Source: Studio Briefing)
