Proving that getting a film company off the ground is not only tough in South Africa, The Sydney Morning Herald reports that actor/director Mel Gibson (“Apocalypto’, “The Passion of the Christ’, “Braveheart’) has shut down his Australian production company without a single film being produced.
Gibson had launched the company together with Shanahan Management, Australia’s leading talent agency, with the idea of making movies featuring top Australian stars such as Nicole Kidman, Toni Collete and Geoffrey Rush. According to the Herald, this is Gibson’s third aborted attempt to launch production ventures in Australia. (Source: Studio Briefing)
