Three documentaries from the globe-spanning initiative “Why Democracy’ have been selected for the Toronto Film Festival’s Real-to-Reel programme. Just 20 documentaries in total were selected from around the world.
The three “Why Democracy’ films, which will be shown at Toronto as a preview to a major international broadcast event in October, include unprecedented looks at the lives of two diverse Presidents in “Iron Ladies of Liberia’ and “Dinner With The President: A Nation’s Journey’.
The third film is “Please Vote for Me’, which won the feature documentary top award at the Silverdocs documentary festival in the USA and is currently playing a short run in theatres in 15 cities across the USA.
South African executive producer on “Why Democracy’ says: “The project is going well, and we are currently in the post production phase of delivering to more than 35 broadcasters which is the biggest documentary project ever done – and this from South Africa.’
