The UK/South Africa co-production, Ponte Tower, a thriller set in SA, is in the first stage of development with Lottery funding from the UK Film Council’s Development Fund.

UK director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave) and writer Michael Thomas (The Hunger, Scandal, Backbeat) are developing the script, which is loosely on the book by German novelist Norman Ohler. It will be shot entirely within Johannesburg’s infamous Ponte Tower, which came to represent change and upheaval in SA during the apartheid era. See full story in April issue of Screen Africa.
