Disney Channel expands via MultiChoice

Disney Channel has inked a deal with MultiChoice DStv which will allow it to expand its reach to Southern and sub-Saharan Africa.

Disney will launch on the DStv channel 82 next month and reach more than 1.3 million subscribers. The channel will be broadcast for 16 hours a day, seven days a week.

John Hardie, the executive VP and managing director of Walt Disney Television, EMEA, said of the carriage deal, “The launch in Africa represents a huge milestone in expanding Disney to this enormously important developing area. With their expertise in African markets, our partners DStv offer us the opportunity to make Disney Channel the leading kids brand across the continent.”
