Daniel Craig as the legendary British secret agent is currently wrapping production on Casino Royale., the latest James Bond movie. The film will be released in SA on 1 December 2006.
The producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc and Sony Pictures Entertainment, have announced that the 22nd James Bond movie will be released by Columbia Pictures in the US on 2 May 2008.
According to Wilson and Broccoli, Daniel Craig has taken the origins of Ian Flemmings’s James Bond character portraying him “with emotional complexity” and “presenting a darker and edgier 007”.
The franchise holders of James Bond is the Broccoli family of EON Productions. The enduring franchise was created by the late Albert R (Cubby) Broccoli. He launched Dr No starring Sean Connery in 1962. Connery went on to play James Bond in From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Once and Diamonds are Forever. George Lazenby played the famous character once in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, before Roger Moore took over the role in Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, and A View to a Kill.
Timonthy Dalton later inherited the role and played the spy in The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill. The most recent James Bond was Pierce Brosnan who starred in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is not Enough and Die Another Day.
