Two new Sentech board members

Sentech has appointed two new board members. Nandi Sihlali joined as a non-executive member of the board effective from 1 May 2006 and Mohammed Siddique Cassim as chief financial officer (CFO) effective from 2 May 2006.

Nandi Sihlali has exposure to the ICT environment, shaping her career as an electrical engineer with Vodacom (Pty) Ltd, and as a GSM engineer from 1997 to 2001. During that period she was responsible for the testing of mobile terminal equipment for various wireless standards, protocols, technologies and ISO 9000 guidelines. She also developed system specifications and RTF for a management information system.

From 2001 to 2004 Sihlali worked as a consultant for ICT Works (Pty) Ltd, where she had a key role in establishing partnerships and strategic alliances with local and international companies in the IT and telecommunications industry.

Currently, in her capacity as Operations Manager at Shilangane Engineering (Pty) Ltd, she has been involved with the Zambia Fibre Optic Network(Zamfon) project, which included applications to the Zambian Communications Authority as well as a telecommunications study in the SADC region.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Siddique Cassim brings to the table more than 10 year’s experience in the electricity utility industry, having expanded his career at Eskom, where, as financial manager, he filled a variety of general management roles. As business services manager he was responsible for five divisions, among them Eskom’s conference facility, the largest in the country – and Eskom Properties, as well as their visual media and catering businesses. As corporate secretary he liaised with government on various policies and changes to the Eskom Act and represented the company at the World Energy Council in Japan.

In 2002 he served as a member of the King Commission sub-committee and has represented South Africa for the Cahorra Bassa negotiations.
