South African fans of the UK's outrageous hit motoring show, Top Gear, might be interested to learn how much lead presenter Jeremy Clarkson earns. Over £2.m for the last year according to The Guardian.
Clarkson, recently in the news for yet another offensive comment (this time pertaining to striking public workers) is believed to earn an annual £1m presenters fee for Top Gear. In addition, he owns 30% of Bedder 6, the company he set up with Top Gears executive producer Andy Wilman to exploit the hit shows brand globally.
The Guardian points out that Clarkson will have made £1.79m from his share of the company's £5.95m dividends paid during the year. However, his profits do not come out of the TV licence fee.
