Avid customers won several awards at the 2011 Creative Arts and Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Reality Programme, Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming and Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming.

The majority of the more than 90 nominees this year used one or more Avid systems such as Media Composer, Pro Tools and Sibelius on productions including Mad Men, Mildred Pierce, Modern Family, among others to achieve their creative vision.

The Deadliest Catch team took home Emmy Awards in three categories, including: Outstanding Reality Programme, Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming, and Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming.

“After many late nights, this win is so humbling and means a great deal to the entire team on Deadliest Catch,” said Josh Earl, A.C.E., supervising editor for Deadliest Catch. ”It’s a very demanding and challenging show with an epic amount of footage—and not a lot of time to bring it all together. Without tools like Avid Media Composer, shows like this couldn't exist. We work together as a team, and being able to switch between projects and access everything in different bays is key to our success. So much dedication and emotion went into telling the story of Captain Phil's final days, and to say I'm honored is an understatement.”

The Kennedys was recognised for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or Movie. Frank Morrone, dialogne and music re-recording mixer for The Kennedys, and long-standing Pro Tools customer, said, “It is very exciting to win for The Kennedys. It was a project that I was very passionate about, so it is very rewarding to be recognised with such a talented team and Pro Tools is a huge part of our process. It has allowed us to work faster and more efficiently while delivering quality 5.1 mixes in a fraction of the time that it would have taken before. Pro Tools lets us keep the creative momentum going and is the lifeblood of our industry.”

Other 2011 Emmy Award winning programmes in categories like Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Animated Program, Outstanding Reality Competition, Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming were created using Avid audio and video solutions and include: Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, The Amazing Race, Futurama, and Gettysburg.

“Our customers continue to inspire television audiences around the world with their creative storytelling,” said Ron Greenberg, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing at Avid. “We’re honored to work with amazing customers and provide them with the solutions to do the work they love—and receive the recognition they deserve.”
