Tue, 13 Dec 2011 15:05

TechCentral reports that MultiChoice, owner of satellite pay-TV platform DStv, has plans to switch from two separate satellites to a new single satellite, Intelsat 20 (IS-20), which has increased capacity for high definition (HD) broadcasts.

MultiChoice is the only South African-owned broadcaster that currently offers HD channels - six on the DStv platform.

IS-20 is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2012.
