Radio licensing delay

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has delayed finalising the licensing of Individual Commercial Free To Air Sound Broadcasting Service application process (as envisaged in the Media Release issued on 31 March 2011) as it is still finalising the reasons document as required in terms of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act and the Electronic Communications Act.
Due to nature and magnitude of this process ICASA is consulting with its legal team to ensure that all the necessary processes have been followed.
The Authority hopes to complete the process as soon as possible.
