Disney Channel South Africa has joined forces with one of South Africa's most popular radio DJ's and SA's Got Talent host, Anele Mdoda, for its latest online dance-based contest Shake It Up: Dance, Dance.

Mdoda, who was a popular contestant in Strictly Come Dancing, is lending her support to encourage kids across South Africa to get involved and have some fun. She will be head judge for the competition.

Shake It Up: Dance, Dance is inspired by Disney Channel's smash hit buddy comedy series Shake It Up. The contest will launch in South Africa from 2 December on www.disney.co.za/shake-it-up/dance-dance and give fans aged between 8 and 14 the opportunity to learn some of the signature dance moves from the show.
Viewers will be invited to recreate their own performances at home with their friends and upload to the dedicated microsite. Budding dancers have until 9 January to enter their solo performance in the  brand new online contest.

Entries will be whittled down to a shortlist of 10 finalists and visitors to http://www.disney.co.za/shake-it-up/dance-dance will have from 24 January to 5 February 2012 to vote for their favourite performances. The winner will receive a fabulous 'Shake It Up makeover' prize including R5,000 shopping vouchers, an iPod nano and docking station, a pair of headphones, a Shake It Up soundtrack, and a pair of Nike dance shoes.

Says Mdoda: ""I'm excited to be a part of Disney Channel's brand new online contest, Shake It Up: Dance, Dance. It's a great opportunity for kids to get involved and have fun with dance no matter what their ability."

The brand new contest will culminate on 25 February when the winner is announced on the channel launch of the highly anticipated second season of Shake It Up. The series features more adventures from the two high-spirited characters, best friends CeCe Jones and Raquel "Rocky" Blue, whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realised when they become background dancers on the most popular teen dance show, "Shake it Up, Chicago."

Shake It Up stars Bella Thorne as CeCe Jones; Zendaya as Raquel "Rocky" Blue; Kenton Duty (Lost) as Gunther; Adam Irigoyen (Wizards of Waverly Place) as Deuce; and Davis Cleveland (Good Luck Charlie, Desperate Housewives) as Flynn Jones, CeCe's precocious younger brother.

The series was created by Chris Thompson and is executive-produced by Rob Lotterstein and Thompson. Rosero McCoy (Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam) choreographed the pilot episode. Shake It Up is a production of It's a Laugh Productions, Inc.
