TopTV’s Valentine feast

South African satellite pay-TV operator TopTV has lined up a host of romantic movies for its Top Movies channel (100) in February to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

First up is the Mike Meyers / Jessica Alba comedy, Love Guru, on 10 February at 7pm.

Born in America, but raised in Havemahkeeta in India, with a population of 76, Maurice had always hoped to better Deepak Chopra, and be sexually active ever since he was 12. His Guru, Tugginmypudha, while approving of Deepak, cautions Maurice and has a chastity belt put around his waist. Years later, Maurice has established himself as Guru Pitka in America, but would like to appear in the Oprah Show and be better than Deepak Chopra. When Jane Bullard from the Toronto Maple Leafs hires him to counsel their star hockey player, Darren Roanoke, to win back his wife, Prudence, from Kings' star player, Jacques Grande, and also stand up to his dominating mother, Lilian, he agrees to do so - with hilarious results.

The Bachelor (not to be confused with the reality show of the same name), starring Chris O’Donnell and Rene Zellweger will air on 11 February at 7pm.

Jimmie is seeing his single friends get married one by one. He isn't too worried until his girlfriend Anne catches the bouquet at his friend Marco's wedding. Suddenly, his wild mustang days are numbered. He finally decides to propose to her, but he sticks his foot in his mouth and botches the proposal. Being insulted by the defeatist proposal, Anne leaves town on an assignment. After she's gone, he finds out that his recently-deceased grandfather's will stipulates that he gets nothing of a multi-million dollar fortune unless he's married by 6:05pm on his 30th birthday: tomorrow! Not being able to find Anne, Jimmie begins backtracking through his past girlfriends to find a wife.

The Anne Hathaway / Kate Hudson starrer, Bride Wars, will be broadcast on 12 February at 7pm.

In Manhattan, the lawyer Liv and the school teacher Emma have been best friends since their childhood. They both are proposed to by their boyfriends on the same day and they plan their wedding parties in Plaza Hotel, using the services of the famous Marion St. Claire. However, due to Marion's secretary's mistake, their weddings are scheduled for the same day. None of them agrees to change the date and they become enemies, trying to sabotage the wedding party of the rival.

The Wedding Singer, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, is scheduled for 13 February at 7pm.

Robbie Hart sings the hits of the 1980s at weddings and other celebrations. He can also keep the party going in good spirits, knowing what to say and when to say it. Julia is a waitress at the events where Robbie performs. When both of them find someone to marry and prepare for their weddings, it becomes clear that they've chosen wrong partners.

Lastly, My Girl 2 will be broadcast on Valentine’s Day, 14 February at 7pm. It stars Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Vada Sultenfuss has a holiday coming up, and an assignment: to do an essay on someone she admires and has never met. She decides she wants to do an assignment on her mother, but quickly realises she knows very little about her. She manages to get her father to agree to let her go to Los Angeles to stay with her Uncle Phil and do some research on her mother. Once there she finds herself under the protection of Nick, the son of Phil's girlfriend, who at first is very annoyed at losing his holidays to escort a hick *girl* around town. However, he soon becomes more involved in the difficult search.
