Hollywood in my Huis won three awards at Silwerskermfees, a film festival presented by kykNET, which took place from 27 to 30 August in Camps Bay, Cape Town. The romantic comedy, which was writer and director Corne Van Rooyen’s debut, took home The Audience Choice Award for Best Film, The Critics Choice Award for Best Film and the Audience Choice Best Leading Lady Award which was given to Christia Visser.

Produced by Dylan Voogt and Saskia Schiel of Stage 5 Films and Vlokkie Gordon of Advantage Entertainment, Hollywood in my Huis is a coming of age story about Jana van Tonder, a teenage girl from a dysfunctional home and an impoverished neighbourhood. Jana is inspired to turn her Matric Dance into her own Hollywood red carpet moment after witnessing Charlize Theron’s Oscar win. The big question is, who will she choose as her date? Her best friend or her dream date!

Hollywood in my Huis opens in cinemas nationwide in 2015.
