Brit broadcasters under film pressure

C21 Media reports that British broadcasters Sky and ITV are under government pressure to increase their support for local film production.
They were accused, in a government-commissioned report, of doing very little to support British film.
Needless to say the two broadcasters have hit back. ITV said it invests almost £1bn (US$1.5bn) annually in programming on its channels, with a focus on local product.
Sky responded saying that as a commercial broadcaster it does not receive public funds; therefore it needs clear and sustainable commercial rationale to invest in UK content.
Government wants to meet with the broadcasters and local production companies to discuss the way forward.
