South African art house cinema circuit, Cinema Nouveau, is proud to announce that bookings are now open to the public to join renowned film critic and radio personality, Barry Ronge, for a pre-release screening of the film, J. EDGAR on Sunday, 22 January at Cinema Nouveau in Rosebank.

This is the first Movie Connoisseurs event for 2012. With Movie Connoisseurs, audiences also have the opportunity to watch blockbuster films before they release to the public.

Written by Lance Black and directed by the award-winning Clint Eastwood, J.EDGAR is a documentary drama offering a glimpse into the life of the first director of the FBI, J.Edgar Hoover, and sees an outstanding performance by the Golden Globe-nominated Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. He is expected to earn an Oscar nomination as well.

The film also stars some of Hollywood’s finest, including: Armie Hammer (Clyde Tolson), Naomi Watts (Helen Gandy) and Judi Dench (Anna Marie Hoover).

As the face of law enforcement in America for almost 50 years, J. Edgar Hoover was feared and admired, reviled and revered. But behind closed doors, he held secrets that would have destroyed his image, his career and his life. Depicting his rise to the head of the FBI and the relationships that were instrumental in shaping his life and career, in particular his controversial friendship with his advisor Clyde Tolson, his devotion from his loyal secretary Helen Gandy and his controlling mother Anna Marie Hoover, J.EDGAR is a thrilling must-see film.

This event is now open for bookings at Cinema Nouveau in Rosebank, and will start at 5pm. Guests will be treated to a light snack before the screening, plus there will be great giveaways on the evening.
