1st Annual Jozi Film Festival

The first ever Jozi Film Festival will take place from 10 to 12 February 2012 at various venues in Johannesburg, including The Bioscope in Fox Street and the Kensington Club.
This new annual event will showcase the latest films made by Jozi (Johannesburg) and Gauteng filmmakers and / or films made in Jozi or Gauteng in the spirit of independent film and community grass roots.
The festivals mission is to create a platform for Jozis growing film community to screen their films, while simultaneously making the films accessible to all members of the community by keeping admission tickets reasonably priced. A few film screenings will be free.
The Jozi Film Festivals audience is a unique combination of film industry professionals, a growing arts community, local and regional attendees, and a large student population.
In addition to showcasing a diverse spectrum of films, tributes and galas, the Jozi Film Festival also offers provocative Q&A sessions with the filmmakers in attendance.
Competition categories include: Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Animated Film, Best Fiction and Non Fiction Short, Best Mobile Phone Film, Best Student Film, and Audience Choice Award.
The event is supports by the WITS School of Arts and the National Film and Video Foundation.
