Skoonheid not on Oscar shortlist

South Africas official entry into this years Academy Awards category for foreign language films, Oliver Hermanus Skoonheid, did not make the shortlist of nine films chosen from 63 entries.
Golden Globe winner A Seperation from Iran, Polands In Darkness and Canadas Monsieur Lazhar are among the films that did make the shortlist, along with Bullhead (Belgium), Superclasico (Denmark), Pina (Germany), Footnote (Israel), Omar Killed Me (Morocco) and Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale (Taiwan).
Skoonheid, the first film made under the South Africa / France co-production treaty, was the first Afrikaans film to be selected for the Cannes International Film Festival's Un Certain Regard section and won the Queer Palm Award during the festival.
The acclaimed South African film has been successfully distributed in the UK, Holland, Australia, France, Germany and Italy.
South Africas 2011 entry into the Oscar race, Live, Above All, made it into the top nine.
