Mediatech Africa 2011 Africas most advanced technology trade fair, a biennial trade exhibition showcasing broadcast, film and production and related industries is proud to announce the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as a platinum sponsor.
As the largest broadcaster in the Southern African region the SABC has a huge technology infrastructure to upgrade and in addition to the platinum sponsorship SABC Technology will have a stand at Mediatech Africa which will enable visitors to view the technologies on exhibition, and to provide a unique opportunity for the industry to engage more proactively with the SABC.
"Our digital roadmap has just been concluded and there are a number of strategic projects that will be implemented at the SABC," says Gelfand Kausiyo, General Manager: Radio Broadcast Facilities (RBF).
"We have opted to be the main sponsor of the event as the SABC has an important role in the industry to promote, lead and support the growth of this market. Mediatech Africa provides us with the right platform where we can engage with suppliers and establish strategic partnerships with industry players, all under one roof".
Since the SABC is not a supplier of technology, they will not be competing with the industry suppliers. "We acquire the technology, adopt it for our own unique environment and deploy it in different forms for both radio and Television broadcasts, says Kausiyo. We do this to achieve our big broadcast productions, some of which the public can easily relate to such as the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup, National Elections Coverage and others. The SABC will therefore present in rich video content some of our major successes in the deployment of the very latest technology, incorporating unique workflows that enable us to achieve award winning broadcast productions. In addition we will also be unveiling our digital roadmap in order to attract suppliers, employees, peers, students and fellow industry colleagues.
We are very excited about this particular initiative as it will make us stand out to reclaim our position as the industry leader".
This is the first time the SABC has sponsored at Platinum level, although they have sponsored and have participated in the previous two Mediatech Africa events with much success.
Mediatech Africa takes place from 20-22 July at the Coca-Cola dome, and will showcase broadcast, film and production; professional AV, sound, lighting, staging and rigging; DJ and professional music equipment; system integration; animation, new media and web; satellite and signal; computer music and production tools; and musical instrument sectors.
