Top 2011 grossers

If you wonder why Hollywood keeps churning out sequels consider The Hollywood Reporters review of the Top 10 grossing films of 2011 eight of the films are sequels.
Topping the list is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with a worldwide gross of $1.3bn, followed by Transformers: Dark of the Moon at $1.1bn.
In third spot is Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at $1bn, followed by Kung Fu Panda 2 at $663m.
Next up are The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 at $648m; Fast Five at $626m; The Hangover Part II at $581.5m; The Smurfs at $562.4m; Cars 2 at $551.9m and Rio at $484.6m.
Only The Smurfs and Rio are not sequels. Both are animated films that were released in 3D and 2D.
