Fall-out over BBC's cost-cutting

Mon, 07 Nov 2011 12:01

C21 Media reports that the BBC is facing mounting pressure from unions over its plans to cut 2,000 jobs.

The National Union of Journalists is punting a vote of no confidence in BBC DG Mark Thompson.

There is a possibility that the unions will embark on strike action and that viewers’ holiday programming may be disrupted.

In the meantime the UK government has frozen the BBC licence fee until 2017.
