First Grader tops UIP box office

The UK-Kenya-South Africa co-production, The First Grader (17 prints), was in top spot of UIP’s Top 8 for the weekend of 23 to 25 September. It made a very handy R107,253 in its opening weekend.

South African films continue to fare well at the box office. How to Steal 2 Million (17 prints) had made R1.2m as at 25 September after four weeks of release, while Saak van Geloof (5 prints), a niche release, had made R263,111 by that date after three weeks of release.

The Bang Bang Club (2 prints) had made R1.2m after 10 weeks.
