ELEMENTS, developer of advanced solutions for unrestricted collaboration in shared media workflows, will be announcing a major improvement in the hardware configuration of its award-winning media storage appliances at MPS Media Production Show on 13 to 14 June 2017 in Olympia, London.
ELEMENTS will be implementing 25/100 GbE connectivity in its media server and storage appliances, specifically designed for the broadcast and post-production industry. Used for high-end grading, compositing and editing of workflows in 4K RAW - not currently possible using existing 10GbE technology. 25/100 GbE also wins over 10GbE being simpler to deploy with a 40 per cent lower cost bandwidth.
Existing OM3-based/fibre based peripheral equipment, such as SFP+/LC and patch panels can still be utilised, including existing 10GbE and original Fibre Channel based infrastructures, with the new connectivity enabling customers to work over a single Ethernet port.
Whilst storage and server side clearly benefit from the aggregated performance that 25/100 GbE can provide, for high end grading and compositing workstations, this makes a cost effective alternative to 16bit Fibre Channel at the client.
We like to be one step ahead, always with the goal to enable our customers to benefit from the latest technologies, says Andrι Kamps, CEO of ELEMENTS. The implementation of 25/100GbE allows us to further extend the use of Ethernet based networks for high end collaborative workflows. We are also excited to show the new features in our fully intuitive workflow enhancement tool set at MPS.
Standard features embedded in all ELEMENTS appliances embrace virtually all tools required on a daily basis, such as a comprehensive user and rights management, an intelligent file manager and a task manager for customised workflow automation, all of which are managed through a fully intuitive graphical user interface for exceptional ease-of- operation. ELEMENTS Media Library, a web-based media asset management and editing tool, caters to every important step of a digital post-production workflow and offers unique features that significantly simplify and streamline everyday tasks and approval processes.
