ToolsOnAir has announced the first installation of its TV station in a Mac Mini broadcast server solution.
Dutch Music TV station Xite employs two Mac Minis to run its entire video playout service, including full 24/7 programming and video on demand.
"We replaced our entire proprietary hardware system with a pair of Mac Minis, with two spares for backup," says Luc Vleugels, Xite's Technical Director. "With the ToolsOnAir solution, we have a more flexible and more future-proof solution than we had before, for a fraction of the cost."
In combination with the newly released AJA Video IoXT video device, connected via Thunderbolt technology, the channel provides a 24/7 music programme in high definition with an advanced real time graphics.
Utilising the latest Apple Mac Mini hardware, ToolsOnAir is helping to drive the next generation of cost effective 'Channel in a Box' broadcast solutions. Using ToolsOnAir's just:play software, an Apple Mac Mini becomes an HD broadcast quality playout, automation and real time graphics server, consuming a mere 85 Watts of power and housed in only one broadcast rack unit (1RU).
"London's Broadcast Video Expo (BVE), which runs this week, is a good platform to show our broadcast solutions in cooperation with our partner NMR," comments VP Sales & Marketing of ToolsOnAir Gilbert Leb. "BVE is not only a local trend setter but also influences the huge network of British broadcast consultants, working around the world."
