Flower Girl, a feature film by Nigerian filmmaker Michelle Bello, releases in UK cinemas on 4 October following its red-carpet premiere on 26 September in Greenwich, London and successful premieres in Nigeria and Ghana.

UK cinemas will include Odeon Greenwich, Odeon Surrey Quays, Odeon Streatham, VUE Stratford, Cineworld Enfield and Cineworld Wood Green.

Behind this initiative is the UK-based distribution house Talking Drum Entertainment, responsible for the London launches of several African films including Tango With Me.

Flower Girl stars Chris Attoh (Ghana) and Damilola Adegbite (Nigeria), supported by a host of well-known African celebrities. The film was directed by Bello (who also produced) and compatriot Mahmood Ali-Balogun (Tango With Me).

In the film, Kemi (Damilola Adegbite) is dying to get married, while Umar (Chris Attoh) wants to get ahead in his career. When their relationship hits troubled waters, Kemi seeks the help of movie superstar Tunde (Chuks Chukwujekwu) and they hatch a plan to get Kemi what she wants. But the plan doesn’t quite work out as they anticipate and soon they realise why people say that love is a funny thing.
