The 2013 Billboard Awards screen live on Monday 20 May on Channel O at 02h00, ensuring that African fans are the first to see the stunning array of once-off live performances at this year's highly anticipated event.

Lil’ Wayne, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Justin Bieber, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez, the Band Perry, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Chris Brown, Ed Sheeran, Akon, Ne-Yo, David Guetta and Icona Pop all perform at the Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena at this highlight event of the global music awards calendar.

The awards are hosted by Tracy Morgan, star of the hit television series 30 Rock, and will also feature Prince who will be honoured with the Billboard Icon Award and perform at the event.

Taylor Swift, American indie pop band fun. and Maroon 5 lead the finalists for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards with Swift and Maroon 5 vying for the Top Artist prize.

Following her 18 category nominations in 2011 and 13 in 2012, Rihanna has been nominated in 10 categories this year, including Top Artist.

Electronic Dance Music (EDM) categories have also been added this year with David Guetta, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia and deadmau5 competing for the Top EDM Album prize.

Baauer’s Harlem Shake, Calvin Harris’ Feel So Close and Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child (feat. John Martin) have been nominated in the Top EDM Song category.

At the awards, music legend Madonna will be honoured with the Top Touring Artist Award. Her 88-date, sold-out MDNA Tour was 2012’s top-grossing tour at US$305 million.

Bieber, Swift and Mars are also in the running for the Milestone Award, a fan-driven honour that will be presented by Cee Lo Green. This new award celebrates the ingenuity of the hit-makers of 2012 – and music fans decide who wins this coveted title.

Billboard Music Awards finalists were based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music.

The 2013 Billboard Awards screens live exclusively on Channel O on Monday 20 May from 02h00 to 05h00 with a repeat at 20h30 on the same day.
