CTO helps bridge Africas digital divide

The 7th Annual Digital Broadcasting Switchover Forum 2012, organised by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), will take place from 22 to 24 February at the Protea Hotel Balalaika in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) has been organising this event ever since the inaugural edition in 2006.
South Africas Minister of Communications, the Honourable Dina Pule, is to be the special guest of honour at the 2012 event, which will be attended by stakeholders responsible for the digital switchover in South Africa, UK, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola, Swaziland, Rwanda, Botswana, etc.
The speakers include the likes of: Mashilo Boloka, Director Broadcasting Policy Department of Communications (South Africa); Tim Unwin, CEO Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (UK); Mallam Usman Magawata, Director General Nigerian Television Authority (Nigeria ); Trilock Dwarka, Chairman Information and Communications Technologies Authority (Mauritius); Christophe Limmer, Senior Director, Market Development Africa SES; Mark Thompson, Director General BBC (UK); Russell Southwood, Managing Director Balacing Act (United Kingdom); David Scott, CEO Digital UK; Lynn Mansfield, Chair Southern Africa Digital Broadcasting Association (SADIBA); Daniel Obam, Chairman Digital Migration Taskforce of Kenya; Alagi Gaye, Director General Public Utilities Regulatory Authority of Gambia; and Reginald Mengi, Chairman Media Owners Association of Kenya.
