TV Azteca, one of Mexico’s largest television stations, recently began regular 3DTV transmissions with Ross Video’s XPression Character Generator and Carbonite Production Switcher.

Ross Video and its local representative in Mexico, Sistemas Digitales, partnered with TV Azteca to provide an XPression CG and Carbonite switcher configured to the client’s expectations. TV Azteca is a current user of Ross’ CrossOver and Vision Production Switchers, XPression CG, and is the first television station in Mexico using an OverDrive Automated Production Control System for their news.

"As a broadcaster we want viewers to stay at home and enjoy our live production. Reaching homes free-to-air with 3DTV content was our main challenge,” said Roman Gomez, director of Engineering,TV Azteca.

"We had two aims on this project - audience enjoyment and to deliver a good stereoscopic quality image that would not result in headaches or motion sickness for the viewers," added Ruben Centineo, 3D project manager, TV Azteca.

"The target was to select technology partners that fulfill the quality requirements and have enough flexibility to react to new challenges," noted Jesus Sanchez, general director of Technology, TV Azteca. "We are very proud of being pioneers of broadcasting 3DTV and of the final product that we are delivering."

“Together with Sistemas Digitales, we were able to supply TV Azteca with equipment and a working solution to be able to broadcast in 3D,” said Juan Carlos Ortolan, director of Sales - Latin America, Ross Video. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with TV Azteca and providing them with quality service and equipment.”
