ABSA KKNK Festival

31 Mar - 07 Apr 2012
Visitors can expect eight unforgettable festival days.
This includes two weekends, an exceptional programme of music, theatre and entertainment, great food and wine, a friendly, sociable atmosphere and much more.
These are some reasons why festival enthusiasts can start planning for the 17th instalment of this great South African arts festival that plays in Oudtshoorn.
The 2011 festival dates were recently confirmed by the Board of Directors. The 2011 dates coincide with the School holidays for all provinces, but not with the Easter long weekend. "In determining these dates we prioritised the school holidays over the Easter Weekend and since that weekend occurs so late in April and entirely outside the school holidays, we have planned the festival to start on the Saturday after the schools in coastal provinces have already closed."
This according to Brett Pyper, Chief Executive Officer of the Absa Klein Karoo National Arts Festival.
"These dates are comparable to previous years when the school holidays in April were shorter", explained Pyper.
"This shift in festival dates also occurs in the light of requests from festivalgoers to revert to the practice of having two festival weekends.
"We expect that feedback about this will be positive," said Pyper.
"We also expect that attendance numbers will be similar across the week, with fewer dramatic peaks in attendance as was experienced during 2010 when the Easter Weekend brought much larger numbers of visitors. We are very positive about these dates", added Pyper.
Prepare for an action-packed April holiday in 2011, the Klein Karoo way.
