A medium that is able to foster understanding, and build a more tolerant world through spreading knowledge of human rights.
Democracy can only work on the basis of such knowledge.
Audiences seek now more than ever a perspective that challenges them to think through both the big societal questions and smaller individual issues that confront humanity.
Independent documentary and fiction that explore social and political issues and hold us emotionally provide the bedrock to our programming.
People in South Africa and indeed across the world have grown tired of the diluted and dumbed down ‘entertainment’ that is produced by the handful of companies that dominate audio – visual production across the globe.
If you are one of those people, then Tri- Continental Film Festival is also about you. We have been running the festival for the last seven years and are actively seeking out individuals and organisations to partner with.
We hope we never become complacent and commit ourselves to continue to break new ground with the films we programme and the manner in which we run the festival.
