Weldun Media is looking for an experienced series producer to join the team. Individual will be responsible for producing a weekly entertainment magazine & lifestyle show. Individual must oversee all aspects of the production and have the ability to manage budget, crews and creative.

• Excellent knowledge of the production process, together with strong production skills
• Excellent writing, producing, directing, presenter’s coaching skills
• Good budget and timeline management
• Strong experience in developing commercially viable program formats
• Ability to report efficiently to his/her supervisor
• Strong interpersonal and communicational skills
• A strong negotiator with an ability to cope calmly and efficiently under pressure
• Strong experience of entertainment production
• A relationship with the African landscape or a desire to work in Africa based on experience
• An entrepreneurial spirit with a passion and appreciation for working in Africa

• Brainstorm, write and work towards activating ideas for pilots, series, shows for Weldun
• Shoot, produce, direct and edit inserts and programmes as needed
• Produce or oversee more than one show at a time within the set deadlines
• Organise own and other’s workload, and delegate projects or parts of them appropriately
• Supervise and support the producers and associate producers with their production schedule and with the production processes they oversee
• Supervise all outsourced projects and make sure that all steps in the communication with the external production companies, in the look and feel of the series and in the editorial contents are followed and comply the channel needs and regulation
• Prepare written brief, concepts, detailed scripts for every pitch or show within the deadlines required to be approved by the HOD and then distribute to all relevant parties
• Prepare a plan for series that fits within the production calendar guidelines
• Prepare a Bible for series produced and a detailed debrief document (e.g. contacts, procedures, problems encountered)
• Work with the Production Manager and the production team to ensure that all owned projects are delivered on time, on budget and in line with the editorial strategy and guidelines
• Pitch and suggest new and existing programming ideas and adapt concept from the national and International portfolio,
• Work with the Production Manager to ensure budgets are drawn up accordingly
• Actively and consistently produce ideas to benefit the editorial and production strategy; work towards creating an action plan on how to activate those ideas. Present and discuss the plan to the Executive Producer / HOD for approval
• Supervise the work of the Producer and the Associate Producer and support them with the projects they are managing
• Develop and coach junior production staff
• Once a project is commissioned, navigating and managing all stakeholders
• Delivering outstanding and award-winning creative work
• Fully responsible for delivery and for all operational work


• Liaise with Programming, Digital, On-Air to ensure that a consistent strategy and the list of deliverables is shared within the department and that TX deadlines are met
• Liaise with other departments within Weldun (e.g. Marketing, Press, Interactive) to provide them with all necessary property information for the correct exposure / launch / presentation / etc. of all the ongoing series in the department (for both owned properties and other producer’s ones)

A degree in a relevant field [e.g. film, media, communications, etc.]
Minimum 5-year experience as a Series Producer
A passion for celebrity and pop culture
Ability to work well in a team.
Organised, self-motivated and able to solve problems.
Able to begin 1 May 2017
