Journalist (Pro-Audio and AV)

Sun Circle Publishers is looking for a committed, dynamic and experienced journalist for a new technical trade print and online publication, in the fields of Professional Audio and AV. The successful applicant must have a minimum of two years' experience in magazines/newspapers (preferably in B2B) and should be an excellent writer.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Identify important news issues for our online and print publications.
  • Research, identify and write a variety of accurate articles in the news and features genres to deadline.
  • Attend and report on industry events.
  • Assist in the proof reading of copy.
  • Edit Freelance copy.
  • Work closely with the editor and publisher
  • Writing that gives insight into the industry
  • Adhere to editorial policy
  • Accountable for delivering a quality product with a given timeline
  • Write in-depth feature articles
  • Write original, researched news items
  • Basic Photography

    Requirements

    Degree or Tertiary education in English, Journalism, communications or media studies.

  • Writing and editing experience. (at least two years work experience as a journalist, preferably in a B2B publication)
  • Ability to write concisely.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent grammar and spelling skills
  • Professional work ethic.
  • Independent worker.
  • A keen interest and understanding of the Pro AV industry.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Must understand the target audience
  • Must be able to understand subject matters relevant to the industry
  • Must have good time management and organisational skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Computer literate.
  • Be prepared to work longer hours if required
