Successful CILECT Congress 2012

Over 150 delegates from 45 countries attended the CILECT (International Association of Film & Television Schools) Congress 2012, which ran from 1 to 5 May in Cape Town, hosted by the AFDA Film School. This was the first time in 60 years the event was held in Africa.

UBUNTU Girl’ to speak at Cilect Conference

Known internationally as the ‘UBUNTU Girl’, Sonja Krouse travelled across South Africa with a backpack, a camera and R100. She hitchhiked and walked for 351 days, experiencing the generosity of 150 families, from 16 cultures, throughout 114 towns. Krouse will relate her experiences at the upcoming Cilect Conference 2012, which takes place in Cape Town at the Sun International Hotel from 1 to 4 May.

5th Talent Campus Durban

A new addition to this year's Talent Campus Durban, which runs in Durban from 20 to 24 July, is Talent Press, a mentoring programme for African film critics in collaboration with FIPRESCI and the Goethe Institut. Talent Press will publish reviews and reports on the Talent Campus Durban and the Durban International Film Festival's (DIFF) films and events in general.

WGSA Skills Lab calls for proposals

Nzimande blasts Setas

Performing Arts Scholarships

Now in its fourth year, the Arts and Culture (ACT) Trust Scholarships Programme is open for participation by Grade 12 learners. Undergraduates who are not registered for a degree during 2012, and who are older than 18 and younger than 25 years of age, are also eligible for participation. The closing date for registrations is 31 May 2012.

3D wildlife filmmaking courses

The Black Leopard Film Campus announces the launch of the first 3D wildlife filmmaking courses in South Africa. The Campus is based on the Thaba Tholo Wilderness Reserve, approximately 30kms outside of Lydenburg, Mpumalanga.
