The Western Cape Film Industry’s most ambitious project to date, the Cape Film Industry’s Animation Industry Development Initiative, kicks off with the first phase at the False Bay College in Khayelitsha on 26 June 2009.
This will mark the beginning of the Animation Training for at least 50 students who have already been identified during the recruitment drive which the Cape Film Commission undertook during the months of April and May 2009.
The Cape Film Commission (CFC), the Film Industry in the Western Cape and the Services Seta launched its Animation Industry Development Initiative (AIDI) within the Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha communities in April this year where the first phase of recruitment for animation related training took place.
The CFC and the film industry with the support of the Services Seta have committed themselves to create a strong animation and new media industry and to this end they have pledged their support to help facilitate the creation of 10 000 jobs by 2020 within the Animation Industry.
