By the end of the month, Korean company Samsung will have launched a range of 3D television sets in the UK, expected to cost around £2,000 per unit.

Following up the current global craze for 3D cinema releases like Avatar, Up and Alice in Wonderland, electronic companies are wanting to bring 3D into US and European homes within the next three years.

The Guardian reports that the Samsung 3D TV set is billed as the world's first high definition, three-dimensional LED television.

Meanwhile, Japanese company Panasonic is to debut its first 3D TV set at a shop in New York this week and Sony has announced its intention of selling 3D sets in June.
