The current state of the global satellite communications marketplace and the industry trends most likely to influence its future will be examined at SATELLITE 2010, which takes place in Maryland, USA from 15 to 18 March.

More than 9,300 professionals are expected to attend the event which will see top experts, providers and end-users across multiple services requirements and applications present a forward-looking view of the market.

The 2010 Conference will feature 300 speakers and provide 25 hours of in-depth market intelligence including strategies for capitalising on emerging opportunities. The following industry trends will be closely explored:

  • Mounting challenges from terrestrial alternatives such as high-speed broadband from non-traditional sources and providers.
  • The evolution of high-throughput satellites and their impact on services provision.
  • Swelling demand for capacity created by innovations such as 3DTV and other services.
  • Continued expansion of use of commercial satellite systems and assets by governments and armed forces around the world.
  • Increasing participation in world satellite markets from China, India, and other emerging technology and service centres.

“Long-term commitments continue to be made in traditional satellite systems and hardware to provide fixed and broadcast services while new applications and demands are fueling the growth of this vibrant and enduring technology,” said conference chairman Scott Chase. “We’ll cover all the bases at SATELLITE 2010.”

Rounding out the conference, the SATELLITE 2010 Exhibition will feature more than 300 exhibiting companies showcasing a variety of satellite communications applications, services and solutions. New for 2010, the Exhibition will also feature outdoor exhibits where exhibiting companies will showcase satellite newsgathering trucks, large antennas, trailer and truck mounted satellite systems, and more.
