Hollywood was shocked to hear that Tom Cruise’s long time business partner, Paula Wagner, is quitting United Artists (UA), the formerly defunct studio that was brought back to life when this high profile pair took it over in 2006.

Owned by MGM, UA has only released one movie since its resurrection, the Tom Cruise / Meryl Streep starrer, Lions for Lambs, directed by Robert Redford. Sadly the film failed at the box office. UA has produced another film, again a Tom Cruise starrer, Valkyrie, slated for a December 2008 release. Valkyrie, which features the questionable casting of Cruise as the Nazi officer who led the unsuccessful plot to assassinate Hitler, has had its release date repeatedly postponed. This has led to much speculation about the film’s validity. (Studio Briefing)
