iPlayer gets social

The Guardian reports that thanks to deals with Facebook and Twitter, users of the upgraded version of the BBC's iPlayer video-on-demand service will be to share content with each other. Users will still have to sign up to the BBC’s own website ID service to connect via these social networking services.

Another feature of the upgrade is that iPlayer will offer links through to the VOD services of ITV, Channel 4 and Channel Five.
