The Guardian reports that Microsoft’s MSN Video will launch a free catch-up TV service in the UK, just like the BBC’s iPlayer. The difference is that the MSN Video service includes 30-second adverts before, during and after each programme.
The new service will offer about 1,000 hours of free programming. However, because it does not have direct broadcaster deals, the new service won’t be able to compete directly with the direct services of the iPlayer.
