Statement by sound engineer kidnap victim

Nick Greyling, the M-Net/SuperSport sound engineer who, together with two other colleagues, was held captive by kidnappers in Nigeria for a week before being released, has issued the following statement together with wife Lorna:

The family is deeply thankful to the Lord that we are together again. It was a traumatic time, but we never gave up hope that Nick would return safely.

We would like to thank everyone who supported us throughout this ordeal. Firstly, close family and friends, who prayed for us, brought food and flowers, and supported us in every conceivable way. Also the people of Multichoice, M-Net/SuperSport and the Department of International Affairs, who worked around the clock to assist us.

There were also countless radio listeners, church groups and people we don’t even know who prayed for us and lifted our spirits with their love, text messages and notes on Facebook. We receive all the messages and reply to as many as possible.
Lorna says: “We have no words to describe how thankful we are, and how much we appreciate everyone’s support. We praise and thank the Lord for Nick’s safe return. We are doing well; we’re just very tired.”

Nick says: “It was a trying week and I’m thrilled that it’s over. It feels like a miracle to be back with my wife, kids and family. Now I just want to relax and spend time with them.”
