Johannesburg-based advertising agency, Ireland Davenport, has been awarded the MTN Africa FIFA project. Ireland / Davenport will partner with Switch Branding & Design in the fulfilment of this campaign. The project requires the conceptualisation and production of an integrated, through the line, multi-phased campaign for MTN, Africa’s only Global sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the leading mobile operator in Africa and the Middle East. The campaign will flight locally across MTN’s 21 markets and on satellite across the Middle East and Africa. “We are privileged to be working with a client such as MTN and on a project of this magnitude.” says Philip Ireland, founding partner and creative director of Ireland Davenport. “We’ve done considerable work in both East and West Africa over the past year and this MTN project gives us the opportunity to take that experience to the next level. Adds John Davenport, the other founding partner and creative director of the agency, “Crucial to the success of a campaign such is this, is an understanding of the cultural nuances and human truths that exist in the different countries across the region; and this is what we hope to bring to life in our work.” “We’ve worked with Switch for several years as our Global Brand, CI and Design Agency,” says Jennifer Roberti, GM: Global Brand & Sponsorship. “The combination of Switch’s world-class design talent and Ireland Davenport’s advertising excellence has really proven to be a winning team for us with this campaign. Together, they have brought the idea of an African continent united by football to life.” Susan Napier, Partner and Managing Director of Ireland / Davenport, says that since the agency launched five years ago, this is “the opportunity we have been working towards. We cannot wait.”
