Conditional access technology from Irdeto, a subsidiary of South African media group Naspers, has been chosen by Selevision for its new high definition personal video recorders (HD PVRs) for use in the Middle East.

According to Freeband TV News, the PVRs will allow content providers to run specially targeted ads in the Middle East for the first time. Irdeto’s CAS and secure chip set will protect the HD PVRs.

Through the Irdeto technology, advertisers will be able to ascertain the exact number of views received.
