Sesame Workshop Wins Social Entrepreneur Award

On 26 June in New York, Ernst & Young LLP bestowed a special Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award upon Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organisation best known for its renowned childlren’s television programme, Sesame Street.

The Sesame Street format has been produced locally in many countries around the world. In South Africa it is called Takalani Sesame.

Gary E Knell, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop accepted the award. Knell has been with Sesame Workshop since 1999 and seen it grow into a truly global organisation, helping children across the world realise their full potential regardless of their background or culture.

The award was part of the Ernst & Young Metro New York Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
