BBC.com gets new MD

Luke Bradley-Jones has been appointed EVP, Managing Director for BBC.com, the international version of the BBC’s website run by BBC Worldwide. BBC.com is one of the world’s largest news websites, reaching 50m visitors outside the UK to its news, sport, business, weather and entertainment content.

Bradley-Jones, previously Executive Vice President, Digital Media and Business Development at BBC Worldwide in New York, will be responsible for the ongoing strategic direction and management of the BBC.com business. In addition to managing the BBC.com U.S. P&L and ad sales operations, he oversaw BBC Worldwide America’s online, mobile, and cable VOD business, including deals with Apple, X-Box, and Yahoo.  He also led the launch of the U.S. version of topgear.com and revamp of bbcamerica.com.

In November 2007 the site introduced advertising outside of the UK to an audience of 50m* unique users generating revenues to reinvest in BBC content and services.*Source: Omniture Jan - March 2009
