Transforming the box office

In an enormous opening at the South African box office, Transformers 2 took a whopping R5.6m over the weekend of 26 to 28 June.
Second biggest earner over the same weekend was The Hangover, which took R1.3m in its second week of release. It was followed by Night at the Museum 2, Terminator: Salvation and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.
Meanwhile, the South African film White Wedding is still in Ster-Kinekor’s Top 8. It took R56,006 over the weekend. It has made a total of R4.8m to date.
