Sabido acquires Sasani

Fri, 11 Apr 2008

Sasani Africa (Pty) Ltd announced mid-March that its much-rumoured purchase by Sabido Investments (Pty) Ltd had been finalised after approval from the Competitions Authorities. (The pending deal was first reported by www.screenafrica.com on 15 November 2007.)

Sabido's media interests are vast and include e.tv, Yfm and interests in the Cape Town Film Studios (formerly known as Dreamworld Film Studios) development and e.sat amongst others. Sasani has been a long- term player in the provision of a variety of film and television services, including the Sasani Studios, ZSE Television, The Film Lab and the Movie Camera Company (MCC).

Sasani CEO Geoff Green will remain on in the new entity as CEO while James Whitehouse, the major Sasani shareholder, will exit the business to pursue other interests.

Green comments: "We are all delighted that this deal has reached a conclusion, and that we may proceed with confidence knowing that there will be no changes whatsoever in the management structure at Sasani. All tenants on site will remain intact and continue to enjoy the back-up and support that we have offered in the past. "
