Theatre Producer Designate: training

The Market Theatre wishes to appoint a Producer Designate: Training. The successful candidate will work closely with the current Producer. Subject to a series of formal appraisals, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will assume full producing responsibilities from 1 November 2008.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will be trained and mentored to take up the following responsibilities:

  • Produce all productions staged at the Market Theatre
  • Contract all artistic personnel
  • Prepare and control all production budgets
  • Prepare and plan with the artistic director the annual programme
  • Manage and produce presentations, co-productions and rentals
  • Engage stakeholders in the sector, contributing to the development of the industry
  • Attend and evaluate showcases, producer’s runs and previews
  • Manage commissions and development projects
  • Prepare all payment documentation
  • Manage likely risks of each production
  • Manage labour related issues regarding artistic personnel Skills
  • Three to five years experience in related arts management
  • Driver’s license
  • High level computing skills
  • Budgeting experience
  • Management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Project Management Diploma
  • Tertiary degree or equivalent
