
Cape Town Television (CTV) is offering a number of exciting job opportunities to a small, committed, multi-disciplinary team of people.
CTV is a non-profit, community television service established in September 2006 to serve the greater Cape Town metropolitan region. CTV is committed to providing community access to the powerful medium of television as a tool to promote community cultural development, human rights and social justice. CTV has recently been granted a one year community television license by ICASA and plans to go on air on 1 August 2008.
The following are required for all the posts: Working experience in the field, self-driven and motivated personality, commitment to the principles of community media.
STATION DIRECTOR
Duties entail: Strategy development, planning, budgeting, resource mobilization, reporting, human resources management, marketing and communication, fundraising, stakeholder
management.
Requirements for the job: A degree or diploma in media and/or communications or related field, several years of experience at a senior, managerial level in the media field, excellent communication skills, experience in community media.
BROADCAST MANAGER
Duties entail: Preparing material for broadcast, scheduling, play-out, overseeing transmission, setting-up satellite studios and ICT systems, developing multiple distribution platforms, technology planning, ensuring regulatory compliance and licensing, advocacy and lobbying, partnership development for facilities, equipment procurement.
Requirements for the job: Several years of experience in video and television, experience in lobbying and advocacy, familiarity with video and broadcast technologies, in-depth knowledge of ICT, knowledge of broadcasting regulations.
PROGRAMME MANAGER
Duties entail: Programme acquisitions, liaising with independent content providers, developing and managing in-house productions, negotiating content deals, assisting with scheduling, editorial control, programme delivery & quality control, exploring programme sponsorships, developing training programmes and liaising with training providers.
Requirements for the job: Several years experience in production management, line producing, producing and executive producing and/or programme management and scheduling for television.
STUDIO/PRODUCTION MANAGER
Duties entail: Managing and mentoring studio crew, interns and volunteers, overseeing studio operations, recruiting and coordinating continuity presenters, producing continuity links, coordinating studio productions, managing video equipment and production rosters.
Requirements for the job:
Several years of experience working in a television studio, experience of directing and producing shows for television, training/teaching experience an advantage.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR
Duties entail: General administration, book-keeping, financial reporting to donors, purchasing, managing volunteers, record keeping, community liaison, information management, coordinates studio bookings, equipment storage and retrieval.
Requirements for the job: Several years of experience in administration at a senior level, advanced computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Pastel and VIP payroll), ability to deal with the public, advanced book keeping skills (Cashbook up to trial balance entries, Statutory returns (VAT, UIF, government levies etc.), debtors and creditors control, petty-cash control, payroll, admin support for staff benefits.
Contracts of one year will be offered. However, successful candidates will be appointed as long as funding is available. Remuneration will be dependent on the qualification or experience of the successful applicant. Successful applicants should be available to start work on 1 July 2008.
