No sign of Icasa at hearings

Public discussions on the role of broadcasting regulator Icasa (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) were held without the regulator’s presence at the two-day hearings on the proposed controversial Public Service Broadcast Bill in Midrand, Gauteng.

Piracy on the increase reports that NBC Universal general counsel Rick Cotton has asked the White House to establish a Cabinet-level piracy czar to deal with the alarming increase in piracy. According to Cotton, billions of dollars have been lost due to copyright piracy.
